The sentence of a wise Judge

A Nice Story From Ancient China:

A farmer in ancient China had a neighbor who was a hunter, and who owned ferocious and poorly trained hunting dog.

They jumped the fence frequently and chased the farmer's lambs.

The farmer asked his neighbor to keep his dogs in check, but this fell on deaf ears.

One day the dogs again jumped the fence and attacked and severely injured several of the lambs.
The farmer had had enough, and went to town to consult a judge who listened carefully to the story and said: "I could punish the hunter and instruct him to keep his dogs chained or lock them up. But you would lose a friend and gain an enemy. Which would you rather have, friend or foe for a neighbor?"

The farmer replied that he preferred a friend.
“Alright, I will offer you a solution that keeps your lambs safe, and which will keep your a neighbor a friend." Having heard the judge's solution, the farmer agreed.

Once at home, the farmer immediately put the judge's suggestions to the test. He took three of his best lambs and presented them to his neighbor's three small sons, who were beside themselves with joy and began to play with them.

To protect his son's newly acquired playthings, the hunter built a strong kennel for his dogs.

Since then, the dogs never again bothered the farmer's lambs.

Out of gratitude for the farmer's generosity toward his sons, the hunter often shared the game he had hunted with the farmer.

The farmer reciprocated by sending the hunter lamb meat and cheese he had made.

Within a short time the neighbors became good friends.
A saying in old China went something like this, “One can win over and influence people the best with gestures of kindness and compassion.”

A similar American saying:

“One catches more flies with honey than with vinegar!

Have a lovely day

Don't jump into conclusion

Wife: (calling from the bath room in a very sweet voice)

" Darling, I am in the bath room..... have applied soap.... please come and rub liberally.... properly with your loving hands.

"Husband; (reading newspaper.... suddenly hears and jumps up with all happiness.... looks him self in the mirror and tells his wife)...
"Sweetheart....... I am coming"

(Reaches the bath room ...sees his wife and says where to rub )...........

Wife: "listen, I have applied soap to the clothes..... now rub each of the clothes properly and wash them and hang them for drying..... I have to cook food."

Moral - Don't jump into conclusion, without knowing the situation

I WANT TO BE A TV

A Primary School teacher asks her pupils to write an essay on ”What wish do you want from God?" At the end of the day, the teacher collects all the essays given by her pupils. She takes them to her house, sits and starts marking them.

While marking the essays, the teacher sees a strange essay written by one of her pupils. That essay made her very emotional. Her husband comes and sits beside her and saw her crying. The husband asked her wife, "What happened?"

She answered "Read this. It is one of my pupil's essays."

"Oh God, Make me a Television.  I want to live like the TV in my house.

In my house, the TV is very valuable. All of my family members sit around it. They are very interested in it.  When the TV is talking, my parents listen to it very happily.

They don’t shout at the TV. They don’t quarrel with the TV.  They don’t slap at the TV. So I want to become a TV.

The TV is the centre of attraction in my house.  I want to receive the same special care that the TV receives from my parents. Even when it is not working, the TV has a lot of value.

When my dad and mom come home, immediately they sit in front of the TV, switch on it and spend hours.  The TV is stealing the time of my dad and my mom.  If I become a TV, then they will spend their time with me.

While watching the TV, my parents laugh a lot and they smile many times. But I want my parents should laugh and smile with me also.  So please make me into a TV.

And last but not least, if I become a TV, surely I can make my parents happy and entertain them. Lord I don't ask you anything. I just want to live like a TV. Please make me into a TV.

The husband completed reading the essay.  He said "My God, poor kid. He feels loneliness. He did not receive enough love and care from his parents. His parents are horrible."

The eyes of the primary School teacher filled with tears.
She looked at her husband and said, "Our son wrote this essay."

The Comparison

A crow lived in the forest and was absolutely satisfied in life. But one day he saw a swan. "This swan is so white," he thought, "and I am so black. This swan must be the happiest bird in the world." He expressed his thoughts to the swan. "Actually," the swan replied, "I was feeling that I was the happiest bird around until I saw a parrot, which has two colours. I now think the parrot is the happiest bird in creation." The crow then approached the parrot. The parrot explained, "I lived a very happy life—until I saw a peacock. I have only two colours, but the peacock has multiple colours."

The crow then visited a peacock in the zoo and saw that hundreds of people had gathered to see him. After the people had left, the crow approached the peacock. "Dear peacock," the crow said, "you are so beautiful. Every day thousands of people come to see you. When people see me, they immediately shoo me away. I think you are the happiest bird on the planet." The peacock replied, "I always thought that I was the most beautiful and happy bird on the planet.

But because of my beauty, I am entrapped in this zoo. I have examined the zoo very carefully, and I have realized that the crow is the only bird not kept in a cage. So for past few days I have been thinking that if I were a crow, I could happily roam everywhere."

That's our problem too. We make unnecessary comparison with others and become sad. We don't value what we have with us. This  leads to the vicious cycle of unhappiness. Learn the secret of being happy and discard the comparison which leads only to unhappiness

Appraisal and Resignation

A newly joined trainee engineer asks his boss "what is the meaning of appraisal?"

Boss: "Do you know the meaning of resignation?"

Trainee: "Yes I do"

Boss: "So let me make you understand what a appraisal is by comparing it with resignation"

Comparison study: Appraisal and Resignation

In appraisal meeting they will speak only about your weakness, errors and failures.
In resignation meeting they will speak only about your strengths, past achievements and success.

In appraisal you may need to cry and beg for even 10% hike.
In resignation you can easily demand (or get even without asking) more than 50-60% hike.

During appraisal, they will deny promotion saying you didn't meet the expectation, you don't have leadership qualities, and you had several drawbacks in our objective/goal.

During resignation, they will say you are the core member of team; you are the vision of the company how can you go, you have to take the project in shoulder and lead your juniors to success.

There is 90% chance for not getting any significant incentives after appraisal.
There is 90% chance of getting immediate hike after you put the resignation.

Trainee: "Yes boss enough, now I understood my future. For an appraisal I will have to resign ... !!!"

Bamboo & God

One day I decided to quit...

I quit my job, my relationship, my spirituality... I wanted to quit my life. I went to the woods to have one last talk with God.
'God', I said. 'Can you give me one good reason not to quit?'
His answer surprised me...
'Look around', He said. 'Do you see the fern and the bamboo?'
'Yes', I replied.
When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them.
I gave them light. I gave them water.
The fern quickly grew from the earth.
Its brilliant green covered the floor.
Yet nothing came from the bamboo seed.
But I did not quit on the bamboo.
In the second year the Fern grew more vibrant and plentiful.
And again, nothing came from the bamboo seed.
But I did not quit on the bamboo. He said.

'In the third year, there was still nothing from the bamboo seed. But I would not quit. In the fourth year, again, there was nothing from the bamboo seed. 'I would not quit.' He said. 'Then in the fifth year a tiny sprout emerged from the earth.

Compared to the fern it was seemingly small and insignificant... But just 6 months later the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall.
It had spent the five years growing roots.
Those roots made it strong and gave it what it needed to survive. I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle.' [very true]
He said to me. 'Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling, you have actually been growing roots.'
'I would not quit on the bamboo. I will never quit on you. ' Don't compare yourself to others ..' He said. ' The bamboo had a different purpose than the fern ... Yet, they both make the forest beautiful.'
Your time will come, ' God said to me. ' You will rise high! ' How high should I rise?' I asked.
How high will the bamboo rise?' He asked in return.
'As high as it can? ' I questioned.
' Yes. ' He said, 'Give me glory by rising as high as you can. '
I left the forest and bring back this story.
I hope these words can help you see that God will never give up on you.
He will never give up on you.
Never regret a day in your life.
Good days give you happiness
Bad days give you experiences;
Both are essential to life.
A happy and meaningful life requires our continuous input and creativity. It does not happen by chance. It happens because of our choices and actions. And each day we are given new opportunities to choose and act and, in doing so, we create our own unique journey.' Keep going...
Happiness keeps you Sweet,
Trials keep you Strong,
Sorrows keep you Human,
Failures keep you humble,
Success keeps You Glowing,
but Only God keeps You Going!

The Manager

A Manager of a large corporation got a heart attack, and the doctor told him to go for several weeks to a farm to relax. The guy went to a farm and after a couple of days he was very bored, and he asked the farmer to give him some job to do.The farmer told him to clean the Cow dung !

The farmer thought that to somebody coming from the city, working for the whole life sitting in an office, it will take over a week to finish the job, but to his surprise the manager finished the Job in less than one  day.

The next day, the farmer gave the Manager a more difficult job - to cut the heads of 500 Chickens ! The farmer was sure that the Manager will not be able to do the job, but at the end of the day the job was done.

The next morning, as most of the jobs in the farm were done, the farmer asked the Manager to segregate a bag of potatoes in two boxes, one box with small potatoes, and one box with big potatoes. At the end of the day the farmer saw that the Manager was sitting ! In front of the potatoes bag, but the 2 boxes were empty !

The farmer asked the Manager 'How is it that you did such difficult jobs in the first few days, and now you cannot do this simple job?'

The Manager answered 'Listen, all my life I'm cutting heads and dealing with shit, but now you ask  me to take DECISIONS !!! '

Life Is A Gift

Today before you think of saying an unkind word–think of someone who can’t speak.

Before you complain about the taste of your food–think of someone who has nothing to eat.

Before you complain about your husband or wife– think of someone who is crying out to God for a companion.

Today before you complain about life– think of someone who went too early to heaven.

Before you complain about your children–think of someone who desires children but they’re barren.

Before you argue about your dirty house, someone didn’t clean or sweep–think of the people who are living in the streets.

Before whining about the distance you drive–think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet.

And when you are tired and complain about your job–think of the unemployed, the disabled and those who wished they had your job.

But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another-remember that not one of us are without sin and we all answer to one maker.

And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down–put a smile on your face and thank God you’re alive and still around.

Life is a gift – Live it, Enjoy it, Celebrate it, and Fulfill it.
